China ready to strengthen defence cooperation with Kenya: official 

NAIROBI, July 27 (Xinhua) — China will work together with Kenyan defence forces and the defence ministry to develop cooperation in defence in a deep way, defence attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Kenya Qiu Yi said on Thursday.
The defence attache made the remarks during an event to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He said that military cooperation remains a critical component of the blossoming Sino-Kenya friendship. “The PLA has made remarkable achievements which are known to the world, presenting itself as an important force in maintaining world peace and regional stability,” Qiu said, adding China will continue to pursue a foreign policy anchored on peace and inclusive development. Both the Chinese and Kenyan top leaders are committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields of human endeavor.
Qiu said frequent exchanges between officials from the two countries have focused on areas that advance mutual benefits. “The leaders from Kenya and China have agreed to promote bilateral relationship to comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and reached consensus on expanding and deepening Kenya-China pragmatic cooperation in all fields,” said the defence attache. He added that China has made significant contribution to Kenya’s infrastructure development alongside emergency response to natural calamities such as droughts. At the same time, Qiu said China-Kenya defence cooperation is on a sound footing as evidenced by frequent exchange visits by senior defence officials from the two countries.
