Internal Security Minister Dr. Fred Matiang’i has castigated international media organizations for “misleading the international community by using video clips from 2007 in their reporting”.
Matiang’i accused the international media for using the clips to create a misleading impression of the security situation in the country.
Reaffirming that the security situation in the country was calm, the Cabinet Secretary said that enough security officers had been deployed across the county to maintain security and others were on standby to be deployed should need be.
He added that surveillance had been beefed up at the Kenyan borders to deter attempts by terrorists to disrupt voting.
“Four terror suspects have since been arrested and arraigned in court. We continue to be alert assure the nation of your continued safety,” A statement by the CS read in part.
A section of international media have claimed that violence had been witnessed in some parts of the country even though international observers had commended the entire voting process saying it was peaceful and transparent.
