Over 8,000 Participants Expected For 12th Edition of Hope For The Future Run

Main race will kick off at Wangige while the children’s race will start at Kanjeru.

Nairobi, Kenya – 8th June 2018 The 12th edition of the Hope For The Future Run will take place this weekend in Kikuyu under the theme ‘Peace and Disability’

The annual race which is the brainchild Paralympian athlete Henry Wanyoike has been sponsored by Safaricom to the tune of KES 1 Million.

The funds raised from the run supports various community projects such as student bursaries, feeding programs and income generating projects for persons living with disabilities.

“Last year we raised KES 3M which was used to acquire 50 white canes for the visually impaired and 100 wheelchairs that were distributed to secondary schools in the community. We also supported a nursery school and an athletics club,” said Henry Wanyoike, world record holder and founder Henry Wanyoike Foundation.

This year’s categories include the 8kms junior and senior races, 3kms Wheelchair event, Veterans run and a Children’s fun run.

“We are excited to be part of this event for the 12th year in a row especially because it embodies our purpose of transforming lives. The projects that the Henry Wayoike Foundation continues to support has helped bring positive change in the local community” said Charles Kare, Acting Director Consumer Business Unit, Safaricom.
