19-year-old Hamza Anwar clocked 09:04:44 to win the 2WD NT during the KCB Autocross 7 outing held yesterday ahead of new entrant Albert Kigen and Safina Khan.
Hamza who is being tutored by his father Asad Anwar clocked 1:58:18 during the 3rdheat setting a record time to emerge victorious.
The drivers were feted by KCB Bank Kenya Sector Head -Public Sector & Institutional Banking Musa Mohammed.
Speaking during the prize giving, Musa lauded the organizers and the competitors for the great outing.
“The KCB autocross event standards were notably exceptional, we thank all the participants and we are looking forward to seeing the growth of the sport in the region”, said Musa.
Rehan shah won the 4wd turbo ahead of Sahib Omar, veteran driver Robert Grow and Lovejyot Singh, Gerald Maina and Jackson Wandeto.
“I am aiming to defend my championship, the autocross has significantly changed due to KCB sponsorship and we are grateful as drivers”, said Rehan.
Legend Asad Anwar said” I am very keen on seeing my son improve his speed and tenacity, KCB has made our dreams come true, the number of youngsters joining the game has improved greatly and we are grateful for that”, said Asad.
The 2WD turbo was won by Imran Hakada who clocked 07:59:67 ahead of Zameer Verjee, Junaid Shah and Shaz Ismail
The open category saw Alfir Khan end up second as Kirit Rajput take the top honors ahead of Asad Anwar Shalien Mughal and Imran Hakada Rajveer Thethy won the junior 2wd non turbo clocking 08:24:47.
