KCB Football Club has on Wednesday 21st November 2018 completed the signing of 13 new players drawn from the East Africa Region. The bank has also signed a 2-year deal with tactician Frank Ouna to steer the squad in the competitive top flight football in Kenya.
Ouna is the immediate Wazito FC tactician and former Gor Mahia coach. He has also been instrumental as a coach for the national team Harambee Stars since 2016.
KCB Group HR Director and the club’s patron Paul Russo said the all-encompassing changes are geared towards making the Bankers a formidable team as the Kenya Premier League Season kicks off this year.
“Congratulations are in order to the boys on returning to top flight football, we are now gearing up for the new season and we are declaring our intent of challenging for top honours”, said Russo.
KCB has brought on board Rwanda’s top centre backs Tubane Jemus and Mugabo Gabriel, Burundi’s top striker Hemedy Murubose and Tanzania’s Goalie Peter Manyika, and striker Jamal Mwalumbeko.
The club has also signed local stars Joseph Okoth of Bandari, Thika United’s full right back Badi Baraka and midfielder Michael Mutinda, Sofapaka Central Midfielder Bernard Mangoli, Kakamega Homeboyz Eston Esiye, Black stars centre back Nichodemus Onyango, Nakumats FC Clinton Kisiabuki and Ushuru FC striker Benson Amianda.
The bankers have also acquired Machakos Grounds in Naivasha as their home ground for the home games during the 2018/2019 season.
KCB technical bench now comprises of Head Coach Frank Ouna, Elvis Ayany who steered the Bankers to promotion will be the assistant coach as well as Ezekiel Akwana who has had various coaching stints at AFC Leopards and Nakuru All stars.
36-year-old Michael Oyando will be the trainer while Alex Mwangi will take charge of the goalkeeper training. Marcel Oile Freedom joins KCB as the strength and conditioning coach while Collins Kiama will be the physiotherapist for the team
The team’s management comprises of Paul Russo as the patron, Azu Ogola Chairman, Team manager Okal joseph and Bramwell Vice chairman.
