KCB ladies grabbed a very important victory on Sunday 2nd December morning as day two of the KCB KVF National play offs got underway at Kasarani indoor Arena.
The superb game that lasted 3 hours as the Bankers downed defending champions Kenya Pipeline 3-2.The match saw KCB Head Coach David Kinga play one of the most stingiest defensive units ever as the battle for Africa Club championship intensified.
The game kicked off with a service from pipeline, that saw Metrin Wabwile drive a powerful spike that saw KCB leading . Pipeline recovered but KCB stemmed their attacks narrowing the gap as left attackers Metrin Wabwile and Eglay Kulova pushed Pipeline with superb attacks to win the first set 28-26..Pipeline battled to win the next two sets to lead 2-1.
Coach Davis Kinga brought in experienced setter Sally Wanjala who delivered superb settings that muddled pipeline game plan.
With good partnership between settlers and good reception, KCB continued to attack eventually winning the 4set leaving the scores at 2-2.
KCB Sally Wanjala served off first during the 5th set as Pipeline made sides out with three points. KCB responded with I successive points leaving the scores at 8-3.
The Bankers kept on piling pressure on pipeline in a tense match.
The final seconds of the game saw 24 year old Kulova nail the final attack that handed KCB victory at 15-12.
KCB will face Bungoma County on Monday at 12am during the final match, Should the bankers win, the much eluded African club championship could be within their easy reach.
The victory will be attributed to superb attacks and coordination that saw an energized KCB squad win a crucial game ahead of the clash with Bungoma County on Monday.
In other results of the day Kenya Prisons ladies edged out Bungoma County 3-0.
Head coach Joseph Barasa says his focus is on the final game with Pipeline on Monday .
A victory for Prisons over Pipeline will guarantee them a ticket to the club championship while KCB victory over Bungoma outfit will guarantee them the much eluded continental glory.
