More than 5000 women from Turbo constituency and the neighborhood received a festive season surprise after they were presented with food items including maize flour, cooking oil, wheat flour, rice and sugar from Deputy President William Ruto and his wife, Rachel, at their Sugoi home, Uasin Gishu County.
Mr Ruto asked Kenyans from well to do families to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate members of the society during this festive season.
He said it is the responsibility of Kenyans to take care of the less fortunate members of the society.
Mr Ruto wished Kenyans Merry Christmas and a successful 2019.
“I take this opportunity to wish all Kenyans Merry Christmas and a successful new year,” said Mr Ruto.
Ms Hellen Arusei, one of the beneficiaries of the Christmas gifts thanked the Deputy President for being mindful of the less fortunate members of the society.
She said a poultry project they benefitted from last year, courtesy of the Deputy President would go a long way in uplifting their lives.
“On behalf of the beneficiaries of the poultry project and Christmas gifts, we wish to thank the Deputy President and his family for this gesture. We are really grateful and we hope other Kenyans will emulate him,” said Ms Arusei.
Turbo MP Janet Sitienei was also present.
