Murkomen now wants CS Matiang’i to reinstate Police Reservists

Leaders from areas affected by cattle rustling have asked Interior Affairs Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to reinstate police reservists saying that the move would restore security.
Led by Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the leaders said that the move to disarm the police reservists in the region was questionable as they have proofed important in maintaining peace in the areas affected by cattle rustling.

“Police reservists are not civilians. They are part and parcel of the police force. Dr. Matiang’i should read the police act very well,” he said.
Murkomen said that police reservist knew their areas very well and therefore help in protecting and combating the cattle rustlers together with the mainstream security agencies.
He called on the CS to rethink the directive and make consultations in the future before making such a decision that affects the lives of Kenyans.
