Police Monday killed three members of the Al-Shabaab terror group after repulsing an attack on a road along the Kiunga-Somalia border in Lamu.
According to police sources, two police officers suffered injuries after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated as the officers conducted their routine patrols.
The militants, who were dressed in jungle green military gear similar to that commonly worn by Al-Shabaab, ambushed the officers after the IED detonated. Police, however, managed to repulse the attackers, killing three.
A few weeks ago, four suspected Al-Shabaab militants died when an IED they were setting up on a road in Lamu East exploded prematurely.
