Starehe Girls Centre in Nairobi has been closed indefinitely after students in the school suffered from an unknown disease.
On Wednesday, more than 50 students were isolated as the school administration worked to control the infectious disease. The affected girls suffered from coughs, sneezes and fever.
The school administration said that doctors from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Response Department had collected samples which were being analysed by Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) and the Centre for Disease Control.
School’s director Jane Soita said that parents and guardians of the affected girls had been notified.
