High Court direct Treasury to release funds to 35 counties

The High Court has ordered the National Treasury to remit all withheld funds to 35 county government following an application by Council of Governors (CoG) Chairperson Wycliffe Oparanya.

Earlier this week, the CoG had told the court the National Treasury was yet to remit monies in some cases dating back to November.

CoG chairperson Wycliffe Oparanya asked the court to compel the National Treasury to make monthly payments to counties to avert financial crises in counties.

Justice Weldon Korir slated a status conference for January 28 when the court is set to review compliance by the treasury.
