Two Baringo MCAs summoned by DCI over comments against President Kenyatta

By Tom Chepsoi

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has summoned two Members of Baringo County Assembly after a video of them castigating the president went viral on Social Media early last month.

In the video, the two, Silas Tochim of Tenges Ward and Reuben Chepsongol of Bartabwa accused the president of constantly making angry statements.

They recorded statements on Thursday night at Kabarnet Police station.

However, the two leaders said that the accusations were politically instigated due to their support for Deputy President William Ruto’s bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

They challenged members of the civil society and the clergy to condemn what they termed as acts against freedom of speech.

The Bartabwa ward MCA accused Baringo County Assembly County Commissioner Henry Wafula of frustrating them saying that they have a right to freedom of speech.
