Court summons Attorney General over Miguna Miguna’s order

A court in Nairobi has summoned Attorney General Kihara Kariuki to explain failure by the government to comply with a court order that allowed controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna back into the country.

On Friday, Miguna Miguna’s lawyers made an application asking the court to take action against the government for violating the opposition lawyer’s rights on which the court ruled that Mr Kihara should appear in person on Monday 13th January.

AG Kihara will be expected to explain why the exiled lawyer was yet to be allowed into the country amid indications that the government was yet to lift a red alert advisory against Miguna.

On Wednesday, Justice Weldon Korir ordered the government to file a response by Thursday over claims that Miguna had been barred from traveling due to government directives.
