Spectacular showdown set for KCB autocross

The scene is set this weekend for one of the tightest battles as KCB Autocross championship series zooms off at Jamuhuri track on Sunday morning. A record 30 drivers have signed up for the event that is organized by Kenya Motor Sports Club.

Kenya Motor Sport Club Chairman Jim Kahumbura says there will be stiff competition as 30 drivers jostle for 2020 championship points.

“We are looking forward to a great KCB Autocross season this year, the entries are remarkable and as usual we will have a superb outing,” said Jim.

The biggest battle pits Rehan Shah and Sahib Omar in the 4wd turbo. Both are wary of the challenge they can pose to each other and all seem intrepid ahead of the weekend outing.

Rehan will be plotting to wrestle his crown from last year’s winner Sahib Omar, having won the 2017 and 2018 series.

“I will be out to get what belongs to me, the start is very crucial and I will go for a win,” said Rehan.

Sahib Omar believes that with hard work and determination, all is possible.

“He is a tough driver(Rehan) and the spirit of competition has seen the sport thrive thanks to KCB Bank Kenya, winning is key on Sunday”, said Omar.

Other drivers expected to shine in the event includes; Lovejyot Singh, Albert Kigen and Shaz Izmail.

The event that is organized by the Kenya Motor Sports Club event will be officiated by KCB Bank Kenya acting head, Bancassurance Sales and Business Development, Mr. Jorim Onyango.

The itinerary indicates that signing on and scrutineering will be done at 7:30 am, followed by drivers briefing at 08:30 before the official practice heat heats starting at 09:30 am. Drivers will then compete in four heats ahead of a colorful prize-giving ceremony at the same venue.

There will be free entry to the 10 KCB Autocross events in 2020.
