Speaker Muturi orders special sitting to discuss proposed tax reliefs

Parliament will convene on Wednesday next week for a special sitting to discuss proposals by president Uhuru Kenyatta aimed at considering President Uhuru Kenyatta’s measures aimed at giving the economy, businesses and consumers various tax reliefs.

On Tuesday, House speaker Justin Muturi recalled the MPs who are currently on recess following the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus through a special Gazette Notice.

Treasury has already published the Public Finance Management Regulations which will see the setup of an emergency fund that will provide resources for an emergency response towards managing the spread of the COVID_19 pandemic.

President Kenyatta has ordered the National Treasury to implement a series of tax reliefs aimed at cushioning Kenyans against the effect of the coronavirus which has seen most businesses crippled.
