Kenya is set to receive Kshs. 705 million from the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that will be used in the fight against the COVID-19 disease.
Through a statement released Tuesday, the US Embassy in Nairobi announced that the funds are part of the United States’ continued support for Kenya in improving health security.
“CDC has supported Kenya’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to improve health security, which has laid foundations to rapidly and effectively prepare for emerging disease threats, including the current COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement reads.
The Statement adds that about Shs. 192 million will be immediately available for Kenya’s Health Ministry to support the ongoing fight against coronavirus and will support the procurement of diagnostic sampling and testing supplies, provide county-level support, expand surveillance of COVID-19.
