Kenya to hit COVID-19 peak in September, Health officials say

Director-General of Health at the Ministry of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth has said the ministry is projecting the peak for COVID-19 in August or September saying the country will likely record up to 200 cases a day.

Dr. Amoth made the announcement at a regular press conference where Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 80 new infections, raising the total to 1,109.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the latest number was the largest recorded on a single day, and has warned of an upward trajectory in new infections.

“I am pleading with you to take this matter seriously because as you can see the numbers are rising by the day,” he said.
