One killed by Elephant in Mochongoi, Baringo County

One person has been killed by an Elephant in Tuiyobei village, Mochongoi Ward in Baringo County.

Elephants invaded the victim’s potatoes farm prompting him to attempt to chase them away before he was attacked and killed by the animals who also injured another person who is currently admitted at a hospital in Nyahururu.

Cases of human-wildlife conflicts in the area have been on the rise with Elephants from Olarabel forest – moving in groups of 20 invading farms and destroying crops.

Residents say the animals have caused them great losses by destroying their crops and appealed to the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to compensate them.
