High court dismisses petition against Gov. Ngilu’s impeachment

The high court has dismissed a petition to halt the impeachment of Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu.

In his ruling Justice Weldon Korir ruled that the application by Governor Ngilu has not met the threshold to warrant the grant of conservatory orders.

The Kitui County Assembly noted that the grant of conservatory orders as sought by Ngilu was speculative as the Assembly was yet to debate on the motion for her removal.

This now paves way for Kitui MCAs to proceed with Ms. Ngilu’s impeachment as planned.
