Number of COVID-19 cases rise to 10,791

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country continues to rise with the latest number of confirmed cases in a day standing at 497 from 4922 samples tested, bringing the total number to 10,791.

On Tuesday, Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Mercy Mwangangi five more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, pushing the number of fatalities recorded in the country to 202.

Seventy-one more people have also recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,017.

Of the 497 new cases, 480 are Kenyans and 17 foreigners and they are all aged between 2-81 years.

The cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (292) followed by Kiambu (62), Kajiado (51), Machakos (30), Mombasa (28), Busia (10), Uasin Gishu (8), Nakuru (5) and Makueni (3).
