EACC starts probe on KEMSA officials over PPEs procurement

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has started a probe on top Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) over a controversial Ksh.7.7 billion tender for the emergency procurement of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

The Equipment was scheduled for delivery on July 22, 2020, but EACC now says the tender was hastily awarded to a company known as KILIG limited using direct procurement under the cover of emergency needs.
KEMSA Board Chairman Kembi Gitura has said any officials who will be mentioned in relation to the scandal will have to step aside and pave way for investigations.
