Makadara court closed after two test positive for COVID-19

The Makadara Court in Nairobi has been closed temporarily for 14 days after two people tested positive for Corona Virus.

In a statement, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Anne Amadi said staff at the court had been asked to proceed on self-quarantine.

“We direct that the court be closed for fourteen (14 days) and all Magistrates and staff to proceed on self-quarantine forthwith.”

Ms Amadi said the break will also allow disinfection of the court premises treatment of the staff members who may have been affected.

Meanwhile, the Mombasa Court that was similarly closed after identification of Corona Virus cases was re-opened on July 6, 2020.

“There were no severe cases reported in Mombasa, as the affected staff members were only asymptomatic and have since tested Covid-19 negative,” the statement read.
