President Kenyatta reschedules meeting with Council of Governors

President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed the 5th Extra-Ordinary Session of the National and County Governments Coordinating Summit to review the surge of COVID-19 infections in the country from Friday, July 24 to Monday, July 27.

According to a statement from Statehouse released Wednesday the rescheduling was requested by the Council of Governors.

The summit was called to review the country’s preparedness for COVID-19 and the containment measures even as cases of the virus in the country continue to surge.

President Kenyatta on 6th announced that he had lifted the cessation of movement order in an out of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera but said there was a possibility of reverting to a lockdown should the spread of the virus pose a threat to the health infrastructure.
