KNH workers threaten to go on strike over salary review dispute

Kenyatta National Hospital health workers have issued a strike notice over failure by the facility to implement a proposed salary review.

The workers who spoke to journalists in Nairobi on Monday sent the warning to the Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) which they accuse of failing to implement a dispute resolution concerning the re-categorization of their salaries.

The workers said they blame the hospital’s management for failing to implement the dispute resolution which was approved in 2012 but they say the SRC carries the biggest blame.

In 2012 the state corporation advisory committee evaluated all parastatals in the country including referral hospitals such as KNH which they upgraded from level 3B to 7A and elevated all the 7000 employees to a different salary scale.
