Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and his Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana have stated that they support the proposed constitutional changes through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking after meeting their Members of County Assembly on Monday, the two said they arrived at the decision after holding public participation meetings with residents of their respective counties who showed support for the proposed changes in the constitution.
Gov. Mutua said the residents supported the bill because it proposes to increase revenue to counties which will push development projects up.
“Wananchi said the 15 percent revenue allocation to counties had greatly transformed rural economies. In that regard, I wish to respect the will of the people & ask MCAs to do the same,” Mr. Mutua said in a tweet.
