KoTDA scales up outreach to MSMEs keen on investing in Konza Technopolis

Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), the agency that is overseeing the development of Konza Technopolis, has committed to opening up investment opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises through collaboration with the Business Network International (BNI).

This is in line with the Authority’s first strategic focus area in the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan that aims at attracting, onboarding and retaining key investors.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the BNI to Konza Technopolis, KoTDA Board Director, Ms. Caroline Kariuki stated that the Authority is deliberate about onboarding entrepreneurs and the business community to take up the investment opportunities available at Konza Technopolis.

“Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute approximately 40% of Kenya’s GDP and therefore take center stage in the Country’s economic outlook. MSME’s have a great role to play in the growth of Konza both in terms of investing in the Technopolis and offering professional services. We are privileged to host the Business Network International at Konza today and look forward to working closely together in future” noted Ms. Kariuki.

The leadership of Konza Technopolis and Business Network International deliberated on areas of partnership for both entities and ways in which individual BNI members can offer professional services to the ongoing and upcoming projects at Konza.

“Today has been a great opportunity to showcase Konza to growing enterprises and to establish areas of collaboration. In effort to bring to life the deliberations we have had today with BNI, we will hold quarterly meetings moving forward and the Konza Partnership team will steer the engagement with the bigger Kenyan BNI team that consists of 11 chapters to ensure Konza and MSMEs have a constant interaction” added Ms. Kariuki.

On her part, the Business Network International Kenya President Ms. Kendi Mbatha lauded the ongoing developments at Konza noting that BNI’s visit and willingness to partner with KoTDA is a testament to Konza’s growth and progression. “It is amazing to see current projects at Konza and those in the pipeline. BNI has 58 businesses in different sectors represented and we are delighted about the numerous opportunities we have identified at Konza for our entrepreneurs and MSME’s” she said.

As part of empowering entrepreneurs and innovators to commercialize their businesses and be part of the county’s first smart city, KoTDA is looking forward to onboarding and partnering with more business communities in future.
