PLO Lumumba Appointed KACC Boss

President Kibaki has appointed PLO Lumumba to head Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC) with Prof Jane Onsongo and Pravin Bowry as Assistant Directors.

The five years appointments will be a tough task for the director and his assistants to restore the confidence of Kenyan on the commission.

In a gazette notice, the President also appointed Prof Jane Onsongo and lawyer Pravin Bowry as Assistant Directors.

The positions were left vacant after the immediate former director Justice Aaron Ringera resigned last September after his controversial re-appointment by the President.

The three were recruited by the KACC Advisory Board and approved by Parliament in June.

The two assistants Fatuma Sichale and Smokin Wanjala who were serving under Justice Ringera also resigned due to public pressure for them to step aside and allow reappointment of new directors to the commission.

The incoming KACC boss PLO Lumumba holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Gent, Belgium and has taught law at the University of Nairobi for 17 years and also practiced for 23 years as an advocate of the High Courts in Kenya and Tnazania.
