Sotik Kass Ladies head to Mombasa this weekend with a smile painted on their faces after Kass Media Group donated Ksh.50, 000 to aid the team that represents Rift Valley in Nationwide Women League.
Speaking on Thursday while presenting the donation, Kass Media Group (KMG) CEO Julius Lamaon applauded Sotik Kass Ladies for coming out tall in the province to be the only team in the region in 12 team league and urged it to surge forwards.
Mr. Lamaon urged women teams from Rift Valley to borrow a leaf from Sotik Kass Ladies and register their teams saying that the success derived from athletics can also be posted in football.
While acknowledging the donation Joyce Laboso, the MP Sotik where the team hails from, thanked Kass Media Group saying that the donation will go a long way in helping the girls in accommodation, transport and other logistics.
“We are grateful for Kass Fm for giving the team sponsorship now that we had no sponsor, they have been helping the team in camp and we also use their uniforms while playing,” Laboso noted
Sotik Kass Ladies fresh from earning four points from two games last weekend head to Coast province over the weekend where they would play Spedag FC and Solwodi FC in their Nationwide Women’s League fixtures.
Meanwhile, the preparations for the famous Kass Chairman’s Cup are underway.
Kass Media Group CEO Julius Lamaon said that the programme for the year’s event will be rolled out by the 15th of July and will give teams a chance to start registration and training.
Mr. Lamaon asked teams that had participated in previous competition and teams from various divisions in Rift Valley province to kick start preparations for the tournament as they await official kick off.
Lamaon reiterated that working together would raise the standards of football from the grass root level which will effect the improvement of the national soccer in this country.
“If we work together as a football team from Rift Valley, we can improve football standards in Kenya. Who knows we might host another great event in Africa like the World Cup and we may send a team from Rift Valley to represent us,” Lamaon reasoned.
