Kamworor, Karoki drop out of Rio trials

World 10000m Silver Medallist Geoffrey Kimworor failed to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games after he withdrew with three laps to go after falling sick during the trials held at Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret.

Also, World Cross Country champion Bedan Karoki also dropped out of the trials. He had been nursing a hamstring injury which he sustained in March after bagging silver in the World Half Marathon.

Two time world 10000 bronze medallist Paul Tanui won the race to qualify for the Rio games after clocking 27:46:15. Tanui beat Africa Cross Country bronze medallist Charled yego who clocked 27:57:07 and also qualified.

It is however expected that Kamworor may be given a chance to compete in the Rio games even after falling sick during the trials.
