Kenyan Minister Defends the country over Al bashir’s Visit

Kenya foreign affairs Minister Moses Wetangula has brushed accusation that Kenya by the United Nation over the controversial visit by Sudan president Omar Albashir to Kenya.

“We agreed that this is not a matter we should spend our time and energy on.... I think what we should be concentration on is the implementation of the constitution and we will do that with the support of our friends” Wetangula said.

Al bashir visited Kenya two week ago during the new constitution promulgation at the Uhuru Park grounds where African presidents and eminent personalities turned out to witness the historic day i Kenyans bid to implement the reform agenda.

Wetangula was speaking after meeting envoys in the country from the American region.

Wetangula said Kenyan should as a country work towards the full implementation of the agenda four according to the national accord signed by the two principles President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga after the disputed presidential election in the 2007 general elections.

“We will be able as Kenyans to play our role. Our friends will help us, but the primary role and responsibility still lies with us which i have no doubt we will lay the critical foundation and get support along the way

Elsewhere Prime Minister Raila Odinga has brushed aside the visit of the Sudan President to Kenya terming it as an African Union affair and has nothing to do with the reform process in Kenya especially the implementation of the newly adopted laws.

Kenyans ratified the constitution through a referendum in early August and it was promulgated into full law two weeks ago.

The international community has hailed Kenyans move and progress of the implementation of the new law which has put to an end the two decade search for a new constitutional dispensation.
