Muslims Gear towards Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations

The Muslim Community is gearing up for the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration to be marked on sarturday.

President Mwai Kibaki has sent a message of goodwill and warm greetings to the Kenyan Muslim community as they prepare to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr.

The President noted that Eid-Ul-Fitr is an important day that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and symbolizes purification after completing 30 days and nights of devotion.

In this regard, President Kibaki congratulated Kenyan Muslims for their dedication to fasting and prayers during the foregoing Holy month of Ramadhan.

The Head of State also commended the Muslim community for taking practical steps to support those in the society facing various challenges including poverty, hunger and disease.

“As all Kenyans observe this occasion in solidarity with the Muslim community, I urge us all to make this day an occasion of reflecting on the shared religious values that bind us together including obedience to God, love for one another and the commitment to tolerance and religious freedom,” President Kibaki said.

Noting that this year Kenyans are celebrating Eid-Ul-Fitr at a historic time when the country is in the process of implementing the new constitution endorsed during the last month’s referendum, President Kibaki appealed to all Muslims to pray for the successful completion of the implementation of the constitution.

Express solidarity with the Muslim community, the Head of State wished them Allah’s blessings and joy during this special occasion.
