Job creation Through ICT



The government will use ICT to drive reforms in Kenya’s economic sectors to achieve higher growth, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said on Tuesday.

Mr. Musyoka noted that already ICT and other new technologies in the telecommunications industry were helping the youth, find jobs and create employment.

“There is an attitude change towards work by young people as a result of embracing new working tools such as laptop computers,” the Vice President noted.

The Vice President was speaking when he received the Vice President and Executive Director of CISCO’s System, Ms. Ayelet Baron, who paid him a courtesy call at his Jogoo House office.

Mr. Musyoka said the use of ICT by the police and judiciary will help in enhancing security and hasten service delivery that would ensure justice for all.

He thanked Cisco for its continuous support of development projects in the country.

Ms. Baron who is based in the United States of America and in-charge of Africa CISCO’s system said the company has already created ICT computer sign language to empower the deaf  learn ICT skills.

She said CISCO’s objective is to assist people in emerging markets of Europe, Middle East and Africa with ICT in areas such as health care, marketing, and economic empowerment of local communities.
