National Girls Soccer League launched

 

Girl’s soccer fraternity has on Wednesday received a major boost after the ministry of Youth affairs and Sports in conjunction with UNICEF launched the National Girls Soccer League.

 

Assistant minister for Youth affairs and Sports Kabando wa Kabando said that the league will help girls nurture and put their talent into practice and urged football federation to support the league.

 

Kabando said that 40 referees and 40 coaches have been trained to help in the management and coordination of the league which he noted that it has vast talent evident from various schools championships held in the recent past.

 

The National Girls Soccer Initiative chairperson Asha Pili Ramadhan challenged the male fraternity in the country to give chance and support to the girl’s league in that they can also make to be sports personalities and stars like Dennis Oliech and Macdonald Mariga in the future and bring fame to this country.

 

The inaugural league received an initial aid of 10.85 million shillings to assist in the running and management of the 12 team league is set to kick off from the 5th of June at the city stadium and which would see some talent land into the national girls team dubbed Harambee Queens.
