ODM legislators aligned to Prime Minister Raila Odinga have come out to insist that campaigns will forge ahead as scheduled despite the Prime Minister being hospitalized.
Addressing the press at Parliament buildings Wednesday evening, the legislators led by Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi said plans were underway to intensify campaigns ahead of August 4th Referendum and upcoming Matuga by – elections.
Mudavadi said ODM leaders were going to continue working hand in hand with leaders from other parties supporting the draft.“He wants us to continue working as a team because this is not a constitution for Raila but for all Kenyans as a collective document that we should work on…it is quite normal for player to go out and get first aid treatment and come back to the pitch and the game continues,” asserted Mudavadi.
The ODM legislators also sought to clarify that the PM was in a good condition disputing claims that the PM could be flown out of the country for further treatment abroad.
“He has the best doctors and those doctors have done a good job locally and they have not expressed any position otherwise,” said the Deputy Premier.
The Prime Minister was admitted to the Nairobi Hospital on Monday and President Mwai Kibaki visited him this afternoon to see him.
In a statement sent to newsrooms by the PPS, the President spent about one hour talking to the Premier where he consoled and wished him quick recovery.
However, MPs aligned to Higher Education Minister William Ruto were conspicuously absent from the hurried press briefing done at the Media Centre.
The briefing was done while Parliament was in session.
