Kenya 7s receives 5 million Boost


The Kenya 7s side rugby team to the last leg of the IRB World Series on Monday received five million shillings from the government as a boost before they leave for the London and Edinburgh legs on Monday evening.

Presenting the team with the cheque sports minister Professor Helen Sambili said that the government was committed in supporting sports in the country citing that rugby has done the nation proud abroad.

Meanwhile the team's captain Humprey Kayange being the outstanding player in the last season has been awarded the Order of Grand Warrior (OGW) same to last season's top try scorer Collins Injera earning the same honour with Kenya Rugby Union chairman Richard Omwela and Commissioner of Sports Gordon Oluoch being feted.

Kayange has promised that the team will perform well in the two legs saying they are ready and are going to conquer the world.

The London leg is slated for between 22nd and 23rd May while the Edinburgh leg in Scotland will be held between 29th and 30th May.
