Kenya’s Yusuf Songoka and Japan’s Madoka Ogi brushed aside the fears of a looming Hurricane Earl to win the 10th edition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon on Sunday.
Songoka who went for his 3rd win on Sunday clocked 1:02:46 after out pacing compatriot Patrick Ivuti who came second in a time of 1:02:51.
Songoka won 2005, 2007 and this year's editions of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon.
Ethiopia’s Tesfiye Sendeku was third in the race which saw Kenyan Kirui Kiprotich finish fifth.
Japan’s Madoka Ogi won the women’s race claiming the victory by well over a minute in front of New Zealand’s Fiona Docherty, who finished second in 1:15:39.
