Sprite Slam Tournament will be held at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret over the weekend .
Eldoret is the third town after Kisumu and Nyeri to host the tournament which targets both boys and girls. The tournament concludes in Nairobi at the end of September 2010
A mix of community and school based team will battle it out for the 5 boys and 2 girls talented players in Rift Valley who will meet players from other participating provinces in Nairobi for the Nationals.
The best three players from Kenya will form part of the All African Star Team which will then proceed to the USA for a boot camp at the home of NBA.
Ms. Pamela Mutua, the Senior Franchise Brand Manager – Kenya, encouraged as many teams as possible to participate in the tournament over the weekend. “We are looking forward to a huge turnout this weekend and a good display of talent on the court, we expect our talent scouts to have a busy weekend identifying the very best from Eldoret.”
Sprite Slam is a Coca-Cola East and Central Africa initiative that targets teens and young adults, who have a passion for basketball, and it also allows them to express their individuality. The other objective of the tournament is to raise the profile of basketball in the country while at the same time developing young talent from the grass root level.
A team of talent scouts from the Kenya Basketball Federation will be on the ground identifying the talent.
