The commissioning of the Sh.6 million shop complete with a spacious, fully-fledged office, promises convenience and efficiency for cement customers at a competitive factory price of Sh.550 per bag.
The state-of-the-art facility is a first of its kind in the cement industry and is aimed at helping the company create buffer stock for off-peak season. The shop can stock 30,000 cement bags at full capacity, approximately 1500 tonnes.
Speaking during the commissioning, EAPCC’s Managing Director, Simon Peter Ole Nkeri, said that the new facility brings the Company closer to its stated goals of efficiently reducing turnaround time and delighting its customers.
“The new shop will ensure that EAPCC becomes one of the most efficient cement dispatchers in the industry. Our customers who wish to walk in and buy cement at the factory are now assured of a convenient alternative,” said Ole Nkeri.
The Company has, since the arrival of Mr. Ole Nkeri 18 months ago, been engaged in a turnaround plan designed to regain lost market share and return the cement maker to profitability. “The convenient location of the shop, 500 meters from the Nairobi-Kajiado highway solves cement availability while expanding our market channels alternatives, which is key in driving up sales volumes,” added Ole Nkeri.
This comes on the heels of efforts to transform its production efficiencies including commissioning of dedicated power line and new weighbridge inside its factory.
As a result of the ongoing streamlining of operations and lowered production costs, the firm had also announced a price cut on its famous Blue Triangle Cement.
