Nairobi March 27, 2019 – The Cabinet Secretary for Sports, culture and Heritage, Amb Amina Mohamed today handed over the Ministry of Education to Prof. George Magoha at the Ministry Headquarters at Jogo House.
Amb Mohamed thanked the President Uhuru for the honour and privilege he accorded her to serve the country as the Cabinet Secretary for Education
She thanked the Principal Secretaries, the Directors, Heads of Departments, and every single member of staff for the support they accorded her during her tenure in the Ministry.
The CS made the remarks during the hand and taking over ceremony at Jogoo House today.
She was flanked by the Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang, and his counterparts in Vocational and Technical Training, Dr. Dr. Kevit Desai, and Post Training and Skills Development, Mr. Alfred Cheruiyot
Amb Mohamed said she was happy that the Ministry had been able to reinforce the integrity of country’s national examinations, ahieved a near 100% transition from primary to secondary (95.3 per cent and rising); and initiated a technical and vocational training program which is immensely important for the future of our country and youth among other initiatives beneficial to the sector.
In his remarks, Prof. Magoha similarly thanked the President for the trust and honor of appointing him as Cabinet Secretary for Education.
He appealed to the staff to accord him the support necessary to deliver on the mandate bestowed on him as Cabinet Secretary.
Prof. Magoha said delivery on the mandate of the Ministry lies in treating every child and every learner with the dignity required.
He underscored the importance of team work saying every staff in the Ministry, from the lowest to the highest ranks, had something to contribute to the delivery of education services to Kenyans.
In attendance included Heads of Departments in the Ministry, and Chief Executive Officers of State Corporations in the Ministry of Education.
