The just concluded Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom national finals held last weekend in Meru
brought together great football stars and legends from all corners, among them former Liverpool and Barcelona star, Luis Javier Garcia.
The Legendary Spanish footballer featured in this season’s finale as a LaLiga ambassador following a partnership agreement between Chapa Dimba and La Liga. He took part in the mentorship clinics giving players an opportunity to interact and receive expert advice on matters football, both on and off the field in order to lead a successful football career.
Garcia played for top European clubs including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. He played 150 games in LaLiga scoring 22 goals. He represented his country 20 times and was a member of Spain’s 2006 World Cup squad.
The Spanish Star also played for Liverpool in the English Premier League winning the Champions League in that time.
The national finals saw Manyatta United from Nyanza and Kitale Queens from Trans Nzoia crowned national champions and each taking home KES 1M and various medals. The losing finalists, Acakoro Ladies and Al-Ahly FC pocketed KES 500,000 cash reward and silver medals each.
