The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that the current rainfall being experienced across the country is likely to continue through the weekend and called for caution saying it may result in floods and landslides.
Areas likely to be worse affected include Nandi, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Narok and Nakuru counties.
The weatherman pointed out that the heavy rainfall of more than 30mm is expected over Rift Valley, Western, Central, Nairobi and the Coastal counties.
Others include Turkana, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Garissa, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Vihiga, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Lamu, Tana-River, Taita Taveta, Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo and Samburu counties.
Residents in all these counties have been advised to be on the lookout for potential floods while those in landslide-prone areas.
