3000 families receive food donations in Bahati, Nakuru County

3000 families in Bahati Sub County yesterday received food and face masks donated by Nakuru County Government. The distribution was done in 4 sub locations namely Bahati, Karunga-Ahero, Landmawe, Mutukanio and Wanyororo.

Each family received 5kg of maize flour, 2kg of beans, 2kg of rice, 1 bar soap, and 1kg of cooking oil aimed at bettering their livelihoods during this pandemic. The relief food distribution is part of the ongoing donation that was started by Governor Lee Kinyanjui to cushion families who were affected by the pandemic.

CO Public Health Services, Mr. Samuel King’ori led the county team in the distribution initiative. He noted that the County government has taken a deliberate effort to help all vulnerable groups across the County.

He said the beneficiaries were the needy and among them elderly persons who have not been able to raise food and sustain their families during this uncertain time.

MCA Waseges, Mr. Mwangi Kiriathe said the families were selected by a local committee comprising of Nyumba-Kumi officials, village elders, chiefs, and local administrators.

The County is targeting such groups even as the countywide food distribution goes on.
