The first group of people today received the COVID-19 vaccine at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) as the ministry sought to assure Kenyans that the vaccine is safe.
Ministry of Health Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth who was the first one to be inoculated.
“We will offer ourselves to be vaccinates today (Friday). Let us portray the correct message to the public,” he said.
KNH Chief Executive Officer Dr. Evanson Kamuri came in second followed by head of immunization and vaccine in the Health Ministry Dr Collins Tabu.
All those who are vaccinated were directed to signed a consent note and after the vaccination, rest for 30 minutes before being discharged.
Health PS Susan Mochache said the vaccination exercise will begin in all county referral hospitals after the launch at KNH.
